ISPL 2421 is a simple, low-cost single seal with no springs, made for massecuite and other highly viscous liquids. It centres itself to take up shaft eccentricity and needs lubrication in every case.

Does it need lubrication?
Yes, always. Lubrication cuts friction between the faces and cools the shaft and seal housing.

Shaft size, speed, temperature, pressure and the fluid. A photo of the old seal or its nameplate helps.
